I've seen plenty of people with 9xx and AMD R9 cards say it was unplayable.
Personally I had no issues at all with my R9 280 and it seems to be running well on GTX 970 as well (only did a brief test on that, played whole game on 280). As long as the gameworks stuff was left of framerate stayed above 50 apart from rare drops at the start of cutscenes and no other issues.
But again, I've seen plenty of people with 9xx and R9 cards say it was basically unplayable. Not sure if that's down to the randomness of bugs (plenty of people says Witcher 3 crashes a lot, I had one in 70+ hours) or if there's just a lot of people who call it unplayable if they don't get 60+ fps at all times with highest settings...
Wow, from game flop to just plain bad game port. The last Metal Gear was such a bad console port it was amazing they released it, and from what I hear this version isn't much better....
Come on NVidia, add something interesting that is actually good. :p
"MGS: Ground Zeroes" on PC was actually a very good port, to the point that the developer and the game engine both received accolade for being PC-friendly.
"Overall, this is a great port. Kojima Productions’ new Fox engine was designed with PC in mind, and it shows. Minor object pop-in aside, I had no issues with crashing, frame drops, bugs, or anything else. It ran perfectly on both my work and home PCs."
It recieved an overall "Very Positive" rating at the Steam store.
Are you confusing Ground Zeroes with Arkham Knight? MGS:GZ is an amazing PC port, it runs perfectly fine at a consistent 60fps even on a budget dual core system with a 750 Ti, and the PC version looks better than the PS4 version as well.
Since the Phantom Pain is going to run on the same or similar engine, we can expect a similar situation when it's released.
Yes AT, you must completely ignore the company with >75% market share, and hence cut down significantly on your readership, just to feed anubis44's personal bias.
As P.T. Barnum said, there's one born every minute. If large numbers of people want to keep giving their money to a company that wants to screw them over, then they're free to do so. I'm only asking for people to reconsider.
Well, Big Boss looked like Red October-era Sean Connery in the original Metal Gear (i.e. bearded, but 'shuave') and Solid Snake looked like Terminator-era Michael Biehn (i.e. not grizzled). In Metal Gear 2, Big Boss stayed Sean Connery, but Solid Snake changed faces to Lethal Weapon-era Mel Gibson (still not grizzled). Even in MGS, Snake was clean-shaven and unscarred; it was in MGS2, four games in, that Kojima decided that Snake should look like Escape From New York-era Kurt Russell.
Plenty of such guys in my line of work. They work for a dime a dozen too. Ex-cons, ex-servicemen, ex-jarheads, ex-specops. Google "maritime security company" and "academi".
Oh also, you really don't want to go around with a 10 cm scar on your face. Might look cool to kids but if you want to live amongst ordinary people, then it sucks. You realize that when you go to the supermarket or you try to live like an ordinary person and you get all these horrified looks from people.

Hopefully this plays out better than Batman Arkam Knight.Nvidia - These promotions mean nothing if the game doesn't work on release!

From what I've read about it, the worst performance happens when you're in the batmobile.silverblue - Friday, July 24, 2015 - link
I think that's the issue - the very definition of unplayable appears to be more than a little subjective. :)Vorl - Friday, July 24, 2015 - link

@Vorl"MGS: Ground Zeroes" on PC was actually a very good port, to the point that the developer and the game engine both received accolade for being PC-friendly.
For example, from PC Gamer's MGS review:

Is there an assembly line that churns out these old grizzled scarred homely "heroic" male lead characters?anubis44 - Sunday, July 26, 2015 - link
Would you prefer them to be young, inexperienced, effiminate and pretty-looking "cowardly" male lead characters?Oxford Guy - Thursday, July 30, 2015 - link
Because if you don't look like the backside of bus you're one of those horrifying effeminate cowards.reininop - Sunday, July 26, 2015 - link
In this instance, this scarred homely male lead was the original hero. I'm pretty sure he started the trend.londedoganet - Monday, July 27, 2015 - link
