Hot off the heels of the Snapdragon 800 benchmarking event in San Francisco, LG has dropped a press release by noting that its next G series smartphone will include the aforementioned SoC. Although LG didn't call it out explicitly, this is undoubtedly the Optimus G2 which we've heard rumblings about, successor to last year's Optimus G which included Snapdragon S4 Pro APQ8064.

LG mentions 75 percent better performance and tight integration with Snapdragon 800 in its future G series smartphone. No word on availability or when the announcement will drop, but I expect that will come later this fall.

Did you mean this to be a timeline post? And wasn't the APQ8064 not a Snapdragon 600 part since it uses Krait 200 cores?

Yup, I noticed the same thing. It should read S4 Pro

No Tegra 4 LG?? Come on???
Well, then I hope that HTC launch a smartphone with Tegra 4 or will I have to depend on the Chinese Huawei (if is that it will manufacture ZTE because I do not trust).

Why would you want a Tegra 4 when you can have a Snapdragon 800?

Snapdragon 800 is the fastest ARM processor available for Android. Why would you want a Tegra 4?
  • Speedfriend - Thursday, June 20, 2013 - link

Some of the benchmarks I saw yesterday showed Tegra 4 beating the Snapdragon 800.
  • fkanker - Thursday, June 20, 2013 - link

The Geekbench bench on Ars? The CPU part where Tegra 4 beat the S800 by up to 5%? OK, but what about the power? Qualcomm claims it's on par with the S600, nVidia doesn't say a word. If it was good they would yell about it...
